Beauty
American plant-based hair wellness brand founded in Los Angeles in 2016 by Daniel Hodgdon and Christina Zeigler. Hodgdon, a longtime producer of sustainably-sourced botanical ingredients for the beauty industry, co-founded VEGAMOUR to deliver clinically proven, clean, vegan formulations for hair growth and scalp health — a reaction to what he saw as misleading ingredient claims by major FMCG companies. The brand pioneered a new "hair wellness" category with topical serums, supplements, and scalp care products, growing revenue by over 650% in 2020. General Atlantic invested $80 million as a minority growth round in April 2021; actress Nicole Kidman joined as an investor and brand partner in 2022. VEGAMOUR expanded into Sephora across more than 400 US stores and entered the UK market in 2021. Expected revenues of $125–150 million were reported for 2023.
