Privacy Notice

Last updated: March 2026

Overview

Who owns that brand? (whoownsthatbrand.com) is a free informational site. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not sell your personal data. This notice explains what data is collected when you use the site and how it is used.

Data We Collect

We do not collect any personally identifiable information directly. The only data collection on this site occurs through Google Analytics 4 (described below) and through the optional contact form, if you choose to submit it.

If you submit the contact form, the information you provide (name, email, message) is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is not shared with third parties.

Google Analytics 4

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics collects data such as:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Search terms entered into the site search box
  • Whether a search returned results or not
  • General location (country/city level, derived from IP address)
  • Browser type, operating system, and device category
  • Referral source (how you arrived at the site)

This data is collected using cookies and similar tracking technologies and is processed by Google on servers that may be located outside your country of residence, including outside the EEA. Google's use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Google truncates IP addresses before they are stored. We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual users or combine analytics data with any other personal data.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (e.g. _ga, _ga_*) to distinguish visitors and track sessions. These cookies typically persist for up to 2 years.

We do not set any other cookies. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are used.

Your Choices

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking in the following ways:

  • Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
  • Use a browser extension that blocks analytics scripts (e.g. uBlock Origin)
  • Enable “Do Not Track” in your browser (note: not all sites honour this)

Data Retention

Analytics data is retained for 14 months within Google Analytics, after which it is automatically deleted. Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to address your enquiry.

Third-Party Services

Beyond Google Analytics, the site uses Supabase to serve brand and company data. Supabase receives standard request metadata (such as IP addresses) as part of normal web traffic, but we do not pass any additional personal data to Supabase, and it is not used for tracking or profiling visitors.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Notice

We may update this privacy notice from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after updates are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised notice.
