Fashion
British fashion retailer founded in 1964 as a youth-focused department within Peter Robinson's Sheffield store, and formally launched as a standalone brand under the Burton Group in 1974. Topshop became one of the UK's most culturally influential high street brands, known for trend-led womenswear at accessible price points, designer collaborations, and its flagship Oxford Circus store in London. At its peak it operated approximately 510 stores across 37 countries. The brand entered administration alongside its Arcadia Group parent in November 2020 and closed all physical stores. ASOS acquired Topshop, Topman, and Miss Selfridge from administration in February 2021 for £265 million. In September 2024, ASOS sold a 75% stake to Bestseller via its Heartland investment vehicle for approximately £135 million; ASOS retains the remaining 25%. The brand relaunched online and began returning to physical retail in mid-2025, initially through a concession at McElhinney's in Ireland and pop-ups in John Lewis stores.
