Fashion
American streetwear and skateboarding brand founded in April 1994 by James Jebbia with a single store on Lafayette Street in Lower Manhattan, designed around the skateboarding community and hip-hop culture of downtown New York. Supreme became globally influential through a highly disciplined weekly drop model releasing small quantities of logo-driven apparel and accessories that frequently resold at significant premiums, and through collaborations with brands ranging from The North Face and Nike to Louis Vuitton. The Carlyle Group acquired a 50% stake in 2017 for $500 million. VF Corporation purchased the brand in 2020 for $2.1 billion, before selling it to EssilorLuxottica in July 2024 for $1.5 billion. Jebbia continues to manage the brand under its current ownership. Supreme operates approximately 17 stores across the US, Europe, and Japan.
