American contemporary watch and accessories brand founded in New York City by Danish couple Henrik and Charlotte Jorst, who had relocated from Denmark when Henrik became US sales manager for Carlsberg. Named after Skagen, Denmark's northernmost town, the brand drew on Scandinavian minimalist design principles and built a following through department stores before establishing an international presence in Europe and Asia. Fossil Group acquired the brand in 2012 for approximately $225 million.
