Fashion
French digitally native fashion brand founded in Paris in 2013 by Morgane Sézalory and Thibault Lougnon, widely considered the first French fashion brand to launch as a digital-native vertical brand (DNVB).
Sézalory began selling vintage and lightly reworked clothing online under the name Les Composantes before transitioning to her own designs under the Sézane name. The brand built a loyal following through monthly limited-quantity collection drops distributed via email and social media, then opened physical "L'Appartement" boutiques in Paris, New York, London, Madrid, and other cities that double as community spaces.
Summit Partners took a minority stake in 2015; General Atlantic acquired that stake in 2018 and remains an investor. Téthys Invest — the holding company of the Bettencourt-Meyers family, controlling shareholders of L'Oréal — acquired a minority stake in September 2022, its first investment in fashion.
