Dutch designer fashion brand founded in Amsterdam in 1985 as a wholesale menswear label, built on a philosophy of meticulously detailed, eclectic clothing that draws from global subcultural influences. The brand rebranded and significantly expanded in 2001, growing to a retail network of over 250 branded stores and distribution in 8,000 wholesale accounts across 78 countries. After a series of private equity ownership changes — including a 2011 sale to Sun Capital Partners — Scotch & Soda filed for bankruptcy in the Netherlands in March 2023. Bluestar Alliance acquired the brand the same month and has since relaunched its retail presence, including a flagship return to New York City.
