American franchised optical retail chain founded by optometrist Stanley Pearle in Savannah, Georgia. One of the first optical retail chains in the US to combine eye exams and eyewear sales in a single location. Changed hands several times before being acquired by Luxottica in 2004. Operates approximately 110 corporate stores and over 400 franchise locations across North America.
