Beauty
French organic beauty brand founded in 1983 by biologist and beekeeper Bernard Chevilliat on a farm in Lagorce, Ardèche, where he and his brother had settled in 1977. Built around the concept of bee-inspired beauty — the name combines "mel" (honey) and "vita" (life) — Melvita pioneered organic cosmetics in France decades before it became mainstream, and was one of the first brands to receive ECOCERT organic certification in 2002. Acquired by Groupe L'Occitane in 2008, it is France's largest certified organic beauty brand with over 400 products and distribution across pharmacies, organic retailers, and department stores globally.
