Omani niche fragrance house founded in Muscat at the request of Sultan Qaboos bin Said, who wished to revive the ancient Arabian tradition of perfumery and create a fragrance of exceptional quality to represent Oman. The first fragrance was created by French perfumer Guy Robert in 1983. Amouage has since expanded into a full luxury house offering fragrances, bath and body products, and leather goods, and operates its own distillery in Oman. It is operated by Oman Perfumery LLC, a subsidiary of the Omani SABCO Group.
