Fashion
American luxury resort wear brand founded in Palm Beach, Florida in the late 1950s by socialite and entrepreneur Lilly Pulitzer, who began selling brightly patterned dresses from a juice stand to hide fruit stains. The brand's vibrant, hand-painted floral and geometric prints became synonymous with Palm Beach resort style and gained national recognition after being photographed on Jacqueline Kennedy in the early 1960s. After a period of dormancy, the brand was relaunched and built into a full women's and girls' apparel, swimwear, and accessories brand before being acquired by Oxford Industries via the purchase of parent company Sugartown Worldwide in December 2010 for $60 million. Lilly Pulitzer is Oxford's most profitable brand and generates approximately 23% of group revenue.
