Beauty
Japanese prestige cosmetics company with origins in the Kanegafuchi Spinning Company founded in 1887, which diversified into cosmetics in the mid-20th century before spinning off its cosmetics division as Kanebo Cosmetics. The company became one of Japan's largest and most prestigious cosmetics groups, operating a portfolio of brands spanning ultra-luxury, prestige, and mass-market segments including Sensai, RMK, Suqqu, Kate, Freeplus, Est, and Allie. Kanebo Cosmetics was acquired by Kao Corporation in 2006 for approximately ¥218 billion (roughly $2 billion), significantly expanding Kao's cosmetics presence in Japan and internationally. The acquisition made Kao one of the largest cosmetics companies in Asia.
