IWC Schaffhausen is an independent company.

Swiss luxury watchmaker founded in 1868 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland by American engineer Florentine Ariosto Jones, who sought to combine American precision manufacturing with Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship. IWC is known for its engineering-driven approach and iconic families including the Pilot's Watches, Portofino, Aquatimer, and Portugieser. Richemont acquired IWC Schaffhausen in 2000 as part of its acquisition of Les Manufactures Horlogères from Mannesmann for €11.8 billion.
