Franco-Italian multinational eyewear conglomerate formed in 2018 through the merger of French ophthalmic lens manufacturer Essilor and Italian eyewear giant Luxottica, the latter founded in 1961 by Leonardo Del Vecchio. EssilorLuxottica is the world's largest eyewear company, controlling owned brands including Ray-Ban, Oakley, Persol, and Oliver Peoples, as well as retail chains LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and Pearle Vision.
The company also holds manufacturing and distribution licenses for numerous luxury fashion houses.
