Fashion
American workwear brand founded in 1922 in Fort Worth, Texas by cousins C.N. Williamson and E.E. "Colonel" Williamson as the U.S. Overall Company, later renamed Dickies. Known for durable, affordable work clothing — particularly the 874 Original Work Pant — Dickies became adopted by skateboarding, hip-hop, and streetwear communities who appropriated its utilitarian aesthetic. VF Corporation acquired the brand in 2017 for $820 million before selling it to Bluestar Alliance in November 2025 for $600 million after revenue declines. Under Bluestar, the brand is being repositioned toward its Gen Z streetwear following and expanded into denim, footwear, and lifestyle.
