Personal Care
Japanese sensitive skin care brand created by Kao Corporation and launched in Japan in 1986, built on over 40 years of ceramide research and a proprietary Ceramide Biomimetic Technology that replenishes the skin's natural ceramide barrier. Curél is the number-one sensitive skin care brand in Japan and is positioned in the mass-market pharmacy and drugstore channel. Kao acquired the US rights to the Curél name and formulations from Bausch & Lomb in 1998 for $135 million along with Soft Sense. The brand has expanded rapidly in Europe since 2019, with UK sales growing 70% year-on-year in the first half of 2025, and is one of Kao's six global focus brands under the K27 mid-term plan.
