Parisian trunk-maker and leather goods house founded in 1834, whose name — meaning "at the departure" — was inspired by its first boutique, opened opposite the Gare du Nord in Paris. Alongside Louis Vuitton, Goyard, and Moynat, Au Départ is considered one of the four great French malletiers. The house went dormant in 1976 after merging with Moynat in 1965, and was revived in April 2019 by Groupe Arnault at Milan Design Week, relaunching with bespoke trunks, leather goods, and accessories from a flagship on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
