British online fashion retailer founded on 3 June 2000 in London as AsSeenOnScreen — a site where shoppers could buy imitations of clothing seen on film and TV — before rebranding to ASOS in 2003. The company grew into one of the world's largest online fashion destinations, shipping to over 196 countries and selling more than 850 brands alongside its own-label portfolio.
ASOS is publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange (AIM, later Main Market). Bestseller owner Anders Holch Povlsen is the largest shareholder via Heartland at approximately 28%, and Frasers Group (Mike Ashley) holds around 25%.
